Do you wish you too could create convincing and realistic pastel paintings?
I have got years of experience of teaching both children and adults how to learn new skills. Why not take advantage of my skills of pastel tuition and spend some time learning how to create works of art you are proud to hang on the wall or gift to somebody.
We live in an increasingly digital world but not everyone wants to learn from an online screen. By booking a session of one-to-one or small group private tuition, you can have my full personal attention for either a half or full day of pastelling. This enables me to see exactly what specific guidance you require and also lets you see how I work – up close and in real time.
My teaching method is centred completely around your needs. You might be a total beginner who just wants to find out how to use pastels and see what they can do (on specialist pastel paper which is a million miles from the crummy sugar paper they gave you at school!). You might be a practising artist who has little experience of the medium of pastel but would like to add to their repertoire. You might be a professional artist who would like to see how to hone their existing skills or try painting in a more realistic style. I can show you how to apply the pastel sticks, blend them and add fine details with pastel shards and pastel pencils.
I have several wildlife subjects you can choose to pastel on the day but you may want to bring an image of your own which is great! Although my passion is predominantly for wildlife, you are welcome to try landscapes, seascapes or portraits. Whatever subject you choose, the joy is still in the pastelling!
The garden setting for my studio is relaxed, informal and tranquil (apart from my boisterous Hungarian Vizsla who will bark a noisy welcome but soon follow you anywhere once offered a dog biscuit!). The studio overlooks Suffolk fields and heathland, where you will often see the local herds of wild fallow deer and soaring buzzards. If the day is sunny we can take our break of tea and cake in the garden.

A half-day session can be either morning (9am to 1pm) or afternoon (1.pm to 5pm) and costs £95 per person (£150 per couple).
A full day session runs from 9am to 5pm with a break for lunch which is included in the cost of £175 per person (£300 per couple).
If you live locally but find travelling a challenge, I am happy to bring my pastels to you and teach the session in your house or venue. The pastels are very portable! (There would be an extra charge just to cover my transport costs.)
